A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Created in Java, D and VBScript. Your antivirus is probably going to be rather skeptical of this game, but it does that with everything on this website, so don't worry about that. If you can't run anything because of antivirus, download the universal .jar file, that is less likely to cause any false positives.

How to play!

Control the blue dot with the arrow keys to try to avoid being tagged by the green dot! Place blocks by clicking on the ground to trap the green dot, but beware, the green dot can break blocks, and if he breaks 4 blocks, he can create a yellow teleporter block, which acts as a wall for the blue dot, but teleports the green dot closer to the blue dot upon touching it.

Every 13 seconds, 3 new blocks will be randomly generated on the map to make the game more interesting!

There is no winning, just loosing slowly, so try you best to survive for as long as possible

GridDots Moddable

This version lets you modify the game!

Gameplay wise, it is exactly the same as the base version. The special thing about this version is that it lets you change the size of the map and edit all of the textures. Other features will be added later on. Much like the 12k version, all files are hosted online, so there will be graphical errors if you try to play without internet connection.

This version comes with v1.1 of the GridDots Mod tool, which is a VBS based application for windows. It is not necessary for modifying the game but is sort of useful. If you want to modify the game but don't have windows, just edit the .nte files. Their default code upon downloading this is a tutorial.

There is a .bat file you can run to launch the game if you are on windows. This is not necessary though, and doesn't really need to be here. There are other ways to run a .jar file.

12k version

This version is a super minimalized version of the game that is only 12 kilobytes in size (Almost 3,000,000 smaller than Fortnite). Features such as the timer, splash screen, and healthbar have been removed (health points still exist, however), and all files are hosted online, so there will be graphical errors if you try to play without internet connection.

no video for this one :/

Install instructions

Make sure you have Java installed on your device (you probably already do).

Universal .jar file
Very simple. Download zip, extract, and run the .jar file! If it doesn't launch the game, that can be fixed with a simple google search ("how to run .jar files on insert operating system here").

Moddable versions

Download .zip, extract it, and open up the GridDots Mod Tool.vbs file. Basically, just do what it says- insert the height and width for the map (only input numbers. e.g. 4) and then add the custom image URLs. For instance, google any image, copy the URL and paste it as-is in the input box. Do that for each texture and there you have it.

You can host custom images on fandom.com (yes, that's a thing you can do), or something like github. If you like chaos, something I like to do is go to a random social media and right click on any image that lets me copy the URL and use that.

To share your modified versions, compress the .nte files into a .zip archive and share them to other players or something. .nte files should always be in the same folder as every other file in the game, do not move them.

If you don't want to change any textures, delete the resource.nte file after you are done modifying the game in the mod tool.

There is a .bat file you can run to launch the game if you are on windows. This is not necessary though and doesn't really need to be here. There are other ways to run a .jar file.

12k Version
This is exactly the same as the universal .jar file.
